Well, um, the new gouge is a little too thick, so I'm going to have to return it for a smaller tool. Curses! Foiled again!
I am seriously thinking of just doing a stucco finish, instead!

I hear your pain!
you can make gouges out of K&S tubing. Just remove an area at one end to act as the gouge. Put the other end into a handle.
With all the sizes available there will be sure to be something exactly right.
