Happy Halloween!

From the boys of Merriman Park!  There will be lots of Tricks & Treats, bobbing for apples, and maybe even ghost stories in front of the fire.

I'm living vicariously through my dollhouse for Halloween, since it falls on a Monday this year.  There was of course the usual shenanigans planned for last night at all the bars, but yours truly could not decide on a costume for the evening.  And last year was such a dreadful bore!  Everyone was dressed the same:  either you were a sexy pirate, a sexy cowboy, or a sexy policeman.  Blah, blah, blah!

So I stayed home and worked on my niches.  Anneke was kind enough to pass on the information about DAS.  It is an air-drying, modeling clay that doesn't shrink.  I have to say, it was the perfect solution!  Thanks, Anneke!
This was my first attempt.  I left the clay on the wine bottle overnight and it stuck to the bottle as I tried to remove it.  But the clay that was pressed against the glass was still fairly soft, so I was able to repair the minor damage.  Maybe I should grease the bottle a little next time?
This photo shows you how large the niche is.  They will support two 'life-size' statues, hopefully of Roman gods or goddesses.  That is, if I can find some!

I also received my photographs of the Entrance Hall!  They are burned to a CD so as soon as Glen gets up this morning (usually at the crack of noon, on a Sunday) I will post them later today!

DAS clay and a wine bottle! Great work. Also, I love that view into the hall. It makes the house look so inviting.

Hi, Iris!
I know, right? I have to credit Simon for using a bottle.

It worked very well indeed! Great job, glad I could help a little ;)I'm very curious to see how the room will turn out!

Perhaps you could find such statues at online souvenir shops? When in Italy and Greece one gets showered with such statues as souvenirs so they must be available online somewhere.

Happy Halloween!

Anneke, thank you so much for steering me to DAS! I made the second niche a little thicker and sprayed the bottle with a little vegetable oil, so hopefully it won't stick. The souvenir shop idea is great! I know exactly what you mean, if only I had thought of it when we were in Italy!

Happy Halloween John. Merriman Park looks fabulous. I love the pumkins. I too spen the evening bent over the house I am currently decourating for Trisha. So I missed all the goings on, I'm rather releived to be honest. I can't wait to get my front door and hall under way so I too can have some occupants of my own.
Your niches have turned out so well for a first attempt. Can't wait to see your new pictures of the Entrance Hall.
Take care, Si

Hi, Simon! Happy Halloween! The pumpkins are candy marzipan and Glen devoured most of them already...I can't have ANYTHING nice in this house!

Happy Halloween John!!

Merriman Park looks beautiful set for Halloween.

I know what you mean regarding repetitive parties, it feels like "Ground hog day" (the movie) sometimes.
Its a public holiday here tomorrow, Cup Day, so I'm sure every one will be out in full swing tonight. I have a big "Cup" party here tomorrow so I will be to busy.

I'm glad you have had success with your niches, they look perfect, I can't wait to see it all when it's done.
And the photos of the entrance.....come on Glen wake up!!!!

No worries, Irene! I've been a little neglectful in that department myself. Hope everything's OK with you, my dear!
